A FESTIVAL OF THE SENSES

They certainly like it colourful … those St. Veiters. Every spring. Growing and thriving in the imposing historical main square – a sea of flowers, as gorgeously coloured and as varied as the entire town. It has received an award from the “Entente Florale”, the European floral decoration contest. Dotted about are street cafés where one can rest for a while and admire the show. A café mélange with delicious pastries tastes twice as good here.

UNIQUE CLASS NOT MASS PRODUCTION

Duke Bernhard would surely have liked to see… what his medieval St. Veit has become. Successfully spanning the whole range of contrasts. Thick old town walls and transparent glass passages. A historical town centre and modern architecture. Prof. Ernst Fuchs – the internationally famous painter – has given the town its colourful finishing touch with his “Fuchs Palast” – a lavish art hotel in the style of Fantastic Realism,,. Not to forget the Trigonale, the Festival of Old Music, which has already taken place in St. Veit for the 6th time – a cultural highlight, with world-class musicians and singers.

A TOWN OF RENOWN

Where else can you find all this?…
A colourful social scene and a town that is one big shopping centre. Offering multifaceted range of choice, a “Commissionaire” and a service (© St. Veit) that is in a special class of its own. The restaurant scene reflects the St. Veit lifestyle, with down-home regional delicacies and international cuisine. Tradition is carefully preserved – while at the same time looking to the future. The famous St. Veit “Wiesenmarkt” (“meadow market”) also takes place here every year, while a youthful enthusiastic cultural scene generates innovative impulses.
